What I then did proved to be one of those life-changing things. Into the Bible Explorer on my computer, I typed in "feet" and "walking" and "walked" and "walks" and anything I could think of in connection with feet. The verses which appeared on the screen were just wonderful ...... Let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree, Gen 18:4 (RSV) Joshua, "Put off your shoes from your feet; for the place where you stand is holy." And Joshua did so. Kings 3,14 And if you will walk in my ways, keeping my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days."
But Peter said, "I have no silver and gold, but I give you what I have; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk."
It was after reading just a few of the more than 600 verses, that I realised this was more than a joke - more than a laugh and certainly more than just an alternative to the T-shirt. There was a serious idea underpinning all of this. It was probably at this point, although I didnīt realise it at the time, that the "Faith on your Feet," aspect of Holy Socks began. I phoned a friend who had been in on the conversation not 48 hours previously and with great enthusiasm read just a few of the verses. She was certainly interested in the idea but I had caught her at rather a bad time - Tina is a journalist, Monday is press day and she was rather busy. Could I phone her later? I have phoned Tina, later, often, and always got enormous support and encouragement from her. Friends are wonderful creatures!
