Daniel and the Lions was one of the original six designs we had made in 2000.  At the time our manufacturer was Angel Hosiery Ltd, run by Rikki Angel.  For a while at least, we had Holy Socks made by Angels.

Our leaflet still has the original story of the two lions discussing why they couldn't eat Daniel along with the addition of a second story, discussing trust. Here are just a few lines from each conversation.

A tale of two lions.

“Well, what was that all about?”

“Don't look at me. I didn't open my mouth.”

“Maybe you just weren't hungry. You got most of the last guy who was thrown in here. I only got a foot to chew.”

“That's never stopped me before. It's the boredom in here. You'll do anything, even ripping these poor souls apart for a bit of entertainment.”

“So what went wrong last night, then, tell me that.”

Another tale of two lions.

“But maybe there are other things that humans should be afraid of, but aren't.”

“Mmmm.... do you mean because they trust this God of theirs?”

"Yes"

“Trust. What does it mean?”

“Don't know really"

“Well, where did you hear it? You'll be telling me next you heard it from an angel.”

“Maybe you just weren't hungry. You got most of the last guy who was thrown in here. I only got a foot to chew.”

“That's never stopped me before. It's the boredom in here. You'll do anything, even ripping these poor souls apart for a bit of entertainment.”
