How do you illustrate pilgrimage? We’ve chosen a rather unusual image for this design - not familiar to a lot of folk, but instantly recognisable to those who have stood at the back of St. Ninian’s cave in south west Scotland.
St. Ninian was Scotland’s first saint and brought Christianity to Scotland in the fifth century. You can take the pilgrim route from Glasgow Cathedral down the west coast to Whithorn on the recently restored Whithorn Way.

On Tuesday from April to September there’s a short “Ninian Moment” (a Bible reading and prayer) in the Roman Catholic Church of St. Martin and St. Ninian.
